During a lull in the Mexican Revolution when Francisco Madero became president and attempted to implement land reforms, two former revolutionaries are pitted against each other for the love of the same woman.

At the twilight of their thirties and with eight years of marriage, Oscar and Natalia buy an apartment in hopes of beginning a more numerous family. Already accommodated and to celebrate their newest acquisition, they decide to throw an inauguration dinner, inviting parents and brothers alike and for which they have great expectations. When the day finally comes, the party arrangements are ruined by months of betrayal, abruptly unveiled. Oscar discovers that Natalia has been involved with another man for the last couple of months. She, while Óscar expresses his indignation, reveals that her infidelity has been fueled by vengeance for he has also been involved in a marital infidelity for a long time. After a violent confrontation, the guests finally arrive. The marriage faces the aftermath; the two of them are pushed to make a decision regarding their future, which will drastically compromise their present as a couple.

The film depicts the story of Leonardo's death in grotesque ways. Relatives begin the traditional preparations for the funeral, while the "deceased" archaically "walks" through the city streets, watching with interest the preparations for his own funeral.

In Rio de Janeiro, a successful yet underpaid young accountant lives with his pregnant wife in small apartment in middle class neighborhood of Copacabana. Unsatisfied with their way of life, the couple decides to accept the offer of becoming housekeepers of a rich man's vacation residence in a beach town.

Félix decides to separate for a time from his wife, and leave the house. After this, he moves to the apartment of his brother Oscar, who is totally different from him. Both will have to adapt their incompatible lifestyles for the sake of a nice coexistence.
